Stories
45ACIDBABIES was invited by U? Festival to be the artist in resicence and work on a new performance. The result: PAINT THE WORLD PINK. For the festival I documented the process as well as the performance.
Every year the tiny island Vlieland, in the north of The Netherlands, hosts a very special festival: Into The Great Wide Open. Since there is no airport on the island, artists arrive by public boat, which takes about two hours from the mainland. When they arrive they see a beautiful island with dunes, forests and the sea. Festival stages are right in the middle of this beauty. Throughout the years I documented national and international artists for the festival: Cymande, Lander & Adriaan, Igor and Togo All Stars.
While working on the project Why The Butterflies I got in contact with the people that worked with Prince. When his former band The New Power Generation toured Europe I joined them on several locations, bringing the Prince experience even closer.
What's the story behind the artists that performed at the U? Festival. In short stories I documented artists like PERMANENT DESTRUCTION, RAGASA, gbw9, Birdguy, Classic Water and Kaðlín Ólafsdóttir.
Photographing for festivals, such as Into The Great Wide Open, Le Guess Who? / U? Festival, Grasnapolsky, Iceland Airwaves, Here Comes The Summer, Nordic Delight Festival and Harp Festival
In 1988 I was introduced to the music of Prince. Rotterdam turned Purple for the LOVESEXY Tour and as 13 year old kid I was breathless. 30 years later, driving on the
Interstate 94 to Minneapolis, I started again to dive into his world and his music. And feeling the butterflies all over again as I did as a 13 year old kid.
You can follow the project also on Facebook.
In the spring of 2016 I started documenting Vök. Capturing the soul of their songs. I feel their music when I walk around in the streets of Reykjavík, or out in the rough and empty landscapes.
Studio Pino made the artwork for the project. With the project I graduated from the Fotoacademie.
In spring/summer 2017 Dutch band Klangstof supported Miike Snow on their tour in the USA. I joined them on their tour from Minneapolis to Milwaukee, playing First Avenue and at the Summerfest.
